How much mobil 1 oil change
There is good news and bad news when it comes to the 15, mile oil change — a standard five times longer than those often recommended by the quick-lube merchants. The good news: Yes, it is possible with certain vehicles and motor oils, to do so with no harm to your car. It is in a walmart specific labeled bottle, it talks about recycling oil at walmart right on the label of the jug, it also has its own walmart specific SKU.
The 5 quart jug of mobil one goes for 38 dollars at autozone, which is not exactly the local mom and pop store.
I was convinced there was a difference. Your email address will not be published. Skip to content. It has to do that for a period of months, if not years, through numerous short trips, long cruises, and for some occasional racetrack or twisty two-lane flogs. You depend on your car's oil to do its job flawlessly through the bitter cold of northern winters and the sticky hot of southern summers—all while fighting rust, contaminants, and passage-clogging deposits. Your oil works hard, so when should you change it?
That depends, so we'll explain the facts behind the proper synthetic-oil change interval. Today's engine oils have evolved into brilliantly engineered blends of refined petroleum and sophisticated additives that enable them to retain their protective properties through all those months and miles and inhospitable conditions.
Some are suitable for light usage through reasonable periods of time, while others are better for harder and longer-term use. Today's highest-performing, longest-lasting engine oils are synthetics, which means they are typically engineered and manufactured from chemically modified petroleum components and some other materials.
Synthetics can provide better startup performance and flow at temperatures down to Fahrenheit, then endure extremely high temperatures without oxidizing, thickening, or turning black. With automakers increasingly using thinner, ultra-low-viscosity thickness oils to reduce running friction for better fuel efficiency, synthetics can be formulated to much lower viscosities while retaining their protective and lubricating properties.
They are typically two to three times more expensive than regular oils, but they are cleaner and more robust, have superior chemical and mechanical properties, especially in extreme temperature ranges, and can retain those properties longer between changes. There's a lot of nonsense floating around about when to change your synthetic oil.
If your vehicle runs synthetics—and most do these days—the best place to find the correct oil-change interval is the owner's manual. Manufacturers' recommended synthetic-oil change intervals vary greatly. For the vehicles in Car and Driver' s long-term test fleet , those intervals range from to 16, miles and almost always include oil-filter changes.
I plan on following the schedule too but how would Kia know that you are following the schedule? Technically one could always go to lube center and Kia wouldn't have a record of it. That question comes up from time to time. I would guess that under normal circumstances, they would never check. But especially with a turbocharged engine, if warrant required a tear-down and they found turbo shaft bearings gummed up or caked with broken-down oil residue, they "could" request proof of oil changes before taking responsibility for the repair.
They would also probably require a record of the type of oil used, and if someone did not follow the GF-4 or GF-5 guidelines and used a cheap non-synthetic oil they could refuse warranty repairs.
I think you'll notice that your dealer and most oil-change shops will specify the oil used for the change. In my ten years as a service manager, I never asked anyone for proof of service. But then we seldom if ever had an engine failure of any kind during warranty -- in fact I can't recall a single one. You must log in or register to reply here. Similar threads D.
